Fert Recyclage, Scancube and Tchek.ai join forces to revolutionize the sale of spare parts from the circular economy with RECHECK©
Paris – Fert Recyclage, a key player for over 40 years in the recycling and recovery of cars, motorcycles, trucks, agricultural machinery, and construction equipment, has announced a strategic partnership with Scancube, a specialist in visual capture systems, and Tchek.ai, an expert in artificial intelligence applied to vehicle inspection.
This alliance aims to offer buyers of second-hand spare parts an unprecedented level of transparency and trust, in order to encourage the adoption of reused parts (PRE – pièces de réemploi) within a circular economy approach.
The solution, born from the synergy of these three areas of expertise, has been named RECHECK© and has already won the Innovation Awards from Auto Recyclage magazine.
An automated and reliable experience for reused parts, powered by imaging and AI technologies, to meet market demands
In the United States and in several Northern European countries, reused parts (PRE – parts from the circular economy) account for up to 25% of components used in automotive repairs. In France, the average is only around 6%. Yet the benefits of using PRE are undeniable, socially, economically, and environmentally.
This lag in adoption is partly due to a lack of trust from both professionals and consumers regarding the reliability and quality of reused parts. The key to overcoming these doubts lies in the objectivity and transparency of information about the condition of the distributed part.
This is precisely what RECHECK© offers, by combining:
- The dismantling expertise of Fert Recyclage, a group of vehicle recyclers with over 40 years of experience
- A high-definition, 360° product photography solution from Scancube
- An AI-powered analysis system trained on thousands of vehicles, developed by Tchek.ai
This chain of expertise and technologies enables each part to be precisely qualified, any potential defects to be identified, and reliable information to be provided to buyers all accessible directly online.
The goal? To boost trust in the quality of reused parts (PRE) by offering a transparent, comprehensive, and objective view of their condition. This is made possible through automated image capture, AI-powered analysis, and the delivery of a detailed report helping to promote the use of second-hand parts as a first-choice solution for vehicle repairs.
“With this collaboration, we’re offering both consumers and professionals complete transparency on the quality of recycled parts. It’s a decisive step toward accelerating the transition to a circular economy in the automotive sector,” says Lionel Crozes, Director of the Fert Recyclage Business Unit.
RECHECK©: An agile POC across 11 dismantling centers
The RECHECK© solution is currently being gradually rolled out across all 11 Fert Recyclage dismantling centers, with the ambition of becoming a benchmark tool in the European second-hand spare parts market.
The proof of concept (POC) is being implemented in an agile way through incremental development, iterative testing, and continuous adaptation at each center. This includes training teams on new processes, gathering and analyzing feedback from both internal teams and the end users of the solution: repair professionals.
The website refert.fr will be the first second-hand parts distribution platform to feature the RECHECK© report directly on its product pages. This report includes the following key elements:
- Number of damages detected by the AI
- Photos of the damages captured by Scancube
- Severity of the damages
- Estimated repair time
- Condition score of the part (from 1 to 5 stars)
Once the POC is completed, the solution will be ready to go to market, backed by tangible results demonstrating that providing transparent information about the condition of a part from the circular economy (PIEC) is a powerful driver for encouraging the use and purchase of reused parts (PRE).
